It takes 28 days to make a new habit

Did you know that your thoughts are magnetic? So if everyone was thinking positive thoughts the world would change automatically. Have you heard of “The Hundred Monkey Phenomenon” ? This is a story about some monkeys on an island who started a new habit and then each of the monkeys copied each other until there was one hundred of them all doing the same thing. Then other monkeys on other islands started to do the same thing.The theory is when enough people adopt a new behaviour, there becomes a new awareness which is communicated between them on an unconscious level until it becomes a reality. This was mentioned in “The Celestine Prophesy” an Adventure written by James Redfield in 1993. You can download his free Ebook from http://www.celestinevision.com  I loved this spiritual adventure story when I first read it many years ago and it is still one of my all time favourite books which remains firmly in my bookcase. Your thoughts are very powerful. They can enhance your life or have the opposite effect. Are you an optimist or a pessimist? Do you always think of the negative scenario? Is the glass half full or half empty? Whichever one you are become a habit. If you are the kind of person who is negative and speaks in a negative way then negative situations will occur. On the other hand you may be a born optimist and attract positive situations into your life. So which are you? Do you want to change or do you say to yourself “this is me and I have always been the same” of course you can change but it takes determination and a need to change.

It takes 28 days to build a new habit. So if you are acting in a negative way in your life you have the power to change it to thinking in a positive way. This is a really exciting way of changing your life. It does take practice and it is about being mindful of what you think, your thoughts and what you say on a daily basis. Sit quietly every morning and imagine yourself as this positive optimistic person. Feel how different your life would be in every detail. See yourself at work, with friends and at home. Commit yourself to twenty eight days  and do this every morning. Then at the end of every day write down all the little changes that have happened to you however small. You can do this for any habit that you want to change but you must have the desire belief and intent that changes can be made.
